We are writing to inform you of several important updates to your oobainsure Buildings Protector Policy. These changes reflect our ongoing commitment to providing you with broader protection and enhanced benefits that better support you when you need it most.

What’s improving in your cover

From 1st June 2026, your policy will include a number of meaningful enhancements to extended cover limits and benefits at no additional cost:

  • Electrical gate and garage motors – limit increased from R3 000 to R6 000;
  • Guards – limit increased from R2 000 to R8 000.

In addition, we are pleased to introduce two new extended complimentary cover benefits to your policy with no additional action required from you:

  • Loss of water due to leaking – cover up to R7 500;
  • Alternative accommodation for your pets – cover up to R5 000.

These enhancements are designed to provide greater financial support for some of the most common and costly homeowner incidents, offering you increased peace of mind and improved overall value.

Update to your basic excess

To support these increased limits and additional benefits, the basic excess on your policy will increase to R1250, effective 1st June 2026. This adjustment allows us to continue strengthening your cover while maintaining the long-term sustainability of your policy benefits.
